Five Stages of Denial By Frances Korten
….with a nod to Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist who came up with five stages of climate denial.
Stage one: It’s a Chinese problem. In the United States, we don’t have to worry.
Stage two: OK, we have a few cases in the United States but we’ll be down to zero in a week or two.
Stage three: The virus is spreading, but don’t over-react. Get tested if you want. Plenty of tests available. Pass the margaritas.
Stage four: Blue states have a lot of this. We’ll stockpile federal equipment in case the red states need it.
Stage five: Oops! It’s too late to do anything about it. You scientists should have tried harder to warn us. Your bad.
